Minolta

Rebranding + Identity

Minolta is a Japanese manufacturer of products in the field of imaging. Due to their legacy in forward-thinking camera engineering, this project seeks to revitalize and rebrand their company to fit more with contemporary times. With a sleek typeface and recognizable logo, the identity follows suit.

The main goal was to rebrand an identity to be modern, as well as reliable. The blue color serves to symbolize imagination and innovation, while paying homage to Minolta’s historical logo.

Keeping with the spirit of Minolta’s minimalist tagline, we “capture the essence” for the type choice. The semi-bold weight of the font accentuates reliability, while the low-contrast, sans-serif represents the clean, no fuss design of the company.

The figure replacing the “O”, though inspired by Minolta’s legacy in camera engineering, also serves to be a space for the imagination of the customers.
